Facial Plastic Surgeries

Primary Rhinoplasty

Sometimes referred to as a “nose job” by patients, it seeks the correction of nose defects, since the nose highlights the facial beauty. From an aesthetic point of view, the nose is the cornerstone of facial harmony. Each and every nose must be designed according to the patient’s specific anatomy. It is important to assess the nose from a functional and aesthetic point of view in order to obtain better results. It is approached internally, with no visible scars in most cases. When it requires the correction of previous procedures, or in more complex cases, the approach is open surgery. This procedure is performed using general anesthesia and consists in sculpting and reshaping both the bones and cartilage that comprise the nose. In many cases, grafting from the same patient can be used. This is one of those procedures that requires a plastic surgeon with a vast experience, since I consider it one of the hardest to perform.

Pros:
  • No nasal packing is required. (Nasal gauze)
  • Painless
  • Minimum inflammation.

Revision Rhinoplasty

The revision rhinoplasty is a procedure that is performed to correct a previous surgery. It is required in patients who have undergone a previous nose job and the results, either aesthetic or functional, or both, are not satisfactory for some reason. It is very important that Dr. Camilo Reyes assesses your case and its complexity degree during your medical evaluation.

Rhytidectomy or Face Lift

This surgery consists in lifting and suspending the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) and repositioning the facial soft tissue compensating for excess of skin. (Facial Rejuvenation)

  • Estimated length of procedure: From 2 to 4 hours.
  • Medical Leave: 1-week relative rest.
  • Type of anesthesia: General Anesthesia or Sedation.
  • Inpatient procedure. It requires overnight hospitalization.

Blepharoplasty or Eyelid Surgery

Patients refer to it as “Eye Lift”. As years pass, the eyelids will lower, altering the eye function, and making the eyes look tired or droopy. This procedure removes the excess of skin on the upper eyelid and remove the fat pads that become visible due to genetic factors or the effects of time. It is an outpatient procedure that in most cases comprises local anesthesia. On the upper eyelid, the excess of skin is removed, the position of the eyelid and the drop of the lacrimal glands are corrected, and the fat pads are removed. On the lower eyelid, the fat pads are repositioned, muscles are adjusted, and, in some cases, skin is removed.

Pros:
  • Outpatient procedure.
  • Quick recovery.
  • Medical leave of 2 to 3 days.
  • Long-lasting results.

Otoplasty

Also called cosmetic ear surgery, it is a procedure designed to correct defects on the ears. When the patient shows this defect, this procedure can be performed on ages starting at 7 years old. This is because at this age the auricle is already fully developed. In patients younger than 15 years old, it is recommended the use of general anesthesia since the patient is required to cooperate. After this age, local anesthesia can be used. This procedure consists in sculpting and reshaping an abnormal cartilage, seeking to improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear.

Pros.
  • Brings profound benefits to patients’ self-esteem.
  • Children who are frequently affected psychologically wise can improve their appearance and their confidence.
  • Medical leave of 4 to 5 days.

Buccal Fat Removal

Or Cheek reduction, it is a procedure that consists in extracting the Bichat’s fat pads, which are fat pads located on the area of the cheeks. This procedure is recommended to file down the facial features on round-faced patients. It is necessary first that the patients have their preliminary medical evaluation, since not all patients are candidates for this procedure.

Pros:
  • Outpatient procedure.
  • Quick recovery.
  • Medical leave of 2 to 3 days.

Brow Lift

This procedure, also called Forehead lift or Browplasty, can be performed endoscopically or via incision. They are designed to reduce wrinkles, improve frown lines and glabella (the space between the eyebrows) and lower or asymmetrical position of the eyebrows. (With well-placed eyebrows we can change the sings of facial aging.) The technique used in this procedure is minimally invasive endoscopic surgery in order to avoid visible scars. This procedure obtains a mild-to-moderate lift of the eyebrows, placing them in an alert and youthful position. It also corrects the muscles on the nasal bridge and the frown lines. The other technique is via incision. It is a wider approach on the scalp, and it is designed for patients with severe sagging brows and very deep frown lines.

Pros:
  • Quick recovery.
  • Medical leave of three to four days.
  • Minimum inflammation.
  • Long-lasting results (ranging from 7 to 10 years)
  • Rejuvenation of the upper third of face.
